Foodball Field in Yenburwo

We are halfway through building a football field for the kids! When we were constructing the Bubes Wen-Chia Complex-Sekolah Adat, we were drawn to the enthusiasm the children had for sports, especially football. In addition, the adults also love this game.

But without a proper field, the children could only play near the jungle on undulating land covered with long coarse grasses. We took the opportunity to involve the villagers in this ‘self-help’ program. The villagers were roped in to clear the land, help level the ground as well as build the drainage system.

Though the field has not finished yet, the villagers have already used it to fulfill their thirst for sports. Planned completion date is in August 2008.

Currently, we are in the process of planting the grass which requires approximately 1 to 2 months. The commencement day will be held in August 2008 with “Pasang Surut” Festival and football matches involving 6 teams from 28 kampongs.
