My Journey to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)

(by: Lulu, 9th grade student at Pangerasan Junior High School Teluknaga)

I have always wanted to visit various places in Jakarta, but had never got the opportunity. Let alone having a holiday, my parents can’t pay for my school fees. For the last couple of years , the urge is getting stronger. Especially when I saw my seniors at the 9th grade went for a school trip to Monas that was held by HDI Foundation. But that means that I have to wait until I have passed grade 9.

Two years passes by, and now I am a 9th grade student who had completed our Final National Exam. On the 2nd week of June, we got news that the whole 9th grade students will have the opportunity for a study tour to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) together with HDI Foundation. Yeahhh! Finally my dreams come true.

On June 21, 2010, we started to leave at 6 in the morning, but we arrived in TMII at 9 o’clock. Wow... it was so huge. I can’t wait to go around it.

Our first destination was the Science and Technology Museum. We were introduced to various kinds of Science and Technologies. We can even try out the equipment there. We all were very amazed. But I started to feel kind of hungry. After visiting the Science and Technology museum, we went to the Cactus Museum and ate our lunch there.

Our next destination was to watch a movie at the ’4 Dimensional Theatre’. The movie being played is a movie about”Space and Beyond”. Sometimes I screamed watching the movie since it seems like the rocks and the spaceship hit me. It was so funny.

After we were satisfied laughing and screaming of joy, we visited the cultural houses and museums from each province in Indonesia.

I felt that I would not end this trip, but the day is getting late, and we arrived at our final destination Transportation Museum. We got a lot of new information and knowledge. And I believe that my friends all felt the same.

This trip really meant a lot for all of us.

We lack of learning facilities in Teluknaga, but we will not stop to study and keep on dreaming to reach our goals.

Thank you HDI Foundation.
