Tangerang, 15 March 2010 After training the technique on how to produce organic fertilizer at Pangerasan Junior High School, Bogor, a few days later, Hans van Florenstein Mulder, the trainer from New Zealand, taught the technique on producing liquid fertilizer from fish, seaweed and grass. This training is relevant with the location of Teluknaga Junior High School which is only 800m away from the northern coastline of Java.
The land condition in that area tends to be dry and less fertile. However, Hans emphasized here, that nothing is impossible to restore the soil fertility with good management; one of the solution is by using organic fertilizer. The efforts can be started with “greening” the Teluknaga Junior High School although with very limited land availability.
Besides learning to make friends with nature, children were also taught to have a new skill which can also have an economic value if they really make it seriously, such as business development of liquid organic fertilizer production for sale.
