Finally the students at Teluknaga Open Junior High School had a chance to watch a movie titled 'Laskar Pelangi', a film with education’s morality theme and made by one of Indonesia’s movie maker . On Friday afternoon, 10 July 2009, abour 60 students and teachers placed this event as part of School Orientation Event (MOS) which was taken place for 3 days, 10-12 July 2009.
Enthusiastically, they prepared this event and the result was sarongs were brought by each students, they conjured up the classroom to be a very simple cinema room. What a creative idea and very touching. 'I brought my mother’s sarong that she used to carry my younger brother, that’s why my mother had told me not to forget to bring it back home after watching the movie,' said Diki, class 8 student smilingly..
For more than 2 hours they sat on the classroom’s floor, they were dissolved on Lintang and friends’ action who were struggled to have the chance to go to school in the middle of all limitedness. In fact, many students shed their tears by the movie. This had also developed their motivation and burned their spirit not to easily give up but improve their school.
This event will be made as a regular activity for HDI Foundation’s assisted schools. All students and teachers expected HDI Foundation could continue to facilitate this event because of the minimum educating entertainment tools they had in their kampong and the parents’ financial limitedness. This event was planned not only to entertain the students, however from all those things above, it was to give positive lessons on living values.
