| Kindergarten in Sabar Miokre, Biak, Papua |
North Supriori, Biak (Papua) is one of the numerous underdeveloped districts on the 208km2 island. Occupied by 3.209 people, it can be reached by a 3-hour drive from the city center. As with Sopen and Owi, the people in Sabar Miokre are mostly farmers (sago or areca nut) and fishermen.
North Supriori is lucky to have 12 elementary schools with 800 students, 3 junior high schools and 1 senior high school. However, it still lacks a kindergarten! To give the children with a basic education before they attend elementary school, we are building our third 'self-help' school project in Papua.
Planned completion date: January 2009.
